Counting is a time-honored human pastime. People count everything. Money, calories, steps, time. You name it. We can count it. iPhone users have access to a number of counting apps, a couple of which I find useful, but what about Mac users? Take a look at the cleverly named Counter app for OS X. It’s free. It counts. That is all.
If small is beautiful, free is good, and less is more, then the simplicity of Counter will be greatly appreciated by Mac users who need a simple counter that does the deed and gets out of the way. That’s Counter. Not only can you count something one click at a time, but Counter lets you count multiple things at the same time.
Open up multiple counters on the Mac’s screen and begin, well, counting.
Counter couldn’t be much easier to use, either. Click the + button to add a number. Click the – button to remove a count. You can even adjust the step number. Instead of counting by ones, count by twos or fives or 10s.
Click the Clear button to get back to zero.
Wait! There’s more!
Counter also has a Widget extension so it will always be available from OS X’s Notification Center, and it works the same way. Click to count. Click to clear.
Not bad for free.
