There are times when I’m doing screenshots and video capture on my Mac that requires me to change the Desktop image. On the Mac, that’s a laborious process. Open System Preferences, click Desktop & Screen Saver, select Desktop, find a neutral image for the background, then select it. Repeat as needed.
Frankly, that’s too many steps. Thankfully, someone else had the same problem but came up with a better solution. It’s called Desktop Repainter, and by the title you can guess exactly what it does. It changes the Desktop’s background to whatever color you choose.
I called Desktop Repainter a one-trick pony app, but that’s not quite true, although I use it only to change the color as needed. It can also be used to change the Desktop background image, and it can change colors every x-number of minutes, comes with a transition option, an opacity slider tool, and a way to save and share color combinations. Allow me to consider those as ancillary options, tricks, if you will, that merely support the intent which is to change the Mac’s Desktop to any color you wish.
Desktop Repainter is almost free, a 99-cent value laden app that reduces an annoying step-by-step-by-step adjustment that Apple requires in OS X.
