There are some apps we use everyday on our Macs. Mail, Safari, Calendar. Then, there are others that are used often. iTunes. iPhoto. iMessage. And, then, there are apps that are seldom used but very useful, nonetheless.
Dupe Away falls into that category. It’s a Mac and Windows PC app that finds and cleans up the duplicate files in iTunes.
Duplicates? Yes, as in duplicate songs, duplicate videos, unused files, and files that just don’t belong. How can that be? Because iTunes has been around awhile and gets cluttered up from time to time.
How it works is simple. Scan your Mac, check the findings, decide to delete or keep.
Dupe Away even finds music in the Music folder which are not in iTunes. Amazingly, somehow those files got misplaced.
And, Dupe Away even cleans up your iTunes Playlists. It analyzes each Playlist and finds and removes duplicates, too. And, it finds and removes dead tracks, too.
While Dupe Away’s feature set is limited, it’s useful– just not useful every day, or every week, or even every month. Once you clean up iTunes it’s not likely you’ll need Dupe Away again for a few months or even a year.
