There’s something to be said for nostalgia. Remember the classic Mac OS trashcan? Want it back? You know, just for old times sake? Or, even better, have the old style trashcan hang around, but then customize it for the 21st century.
Bin-it is the simple Mac app that brings back the pre-OS X style trashcan to the modern Mac. If you remember, the old style trash would get visibly fuller as you put in more trash. That’s what Bin-it’s trashcans do.
Bin-it is actually fun to setup. It comes with multiple themes, and plenty of options to control how the trashcan works.
Bin-it also displays the amount of trash in megabytes, and offers options to customize the trashcan and substitute the original Mac OS design.
Despite the different trashcan styles, the beauty of Bin-it is actually in the Preferences. For example, you can immediately delete files dragged to the trashcan, display the number of items, and even delete locked items.
Bin-it is nicely done and not too expensive. The nostalgia is worth less than the Preferences.
