Do you collect apps on your Mac? By collect, I mean you download or buy apps that don’t get used too often. I could apply the six month rule to my collection of Mac caluclator apps (if it’s not used in six months you probably don’t need it).
Or, swap out Apple’s built-in calculator app and conversion Widget for Converter Plus, a calculator and converter app that could be accused of using performance enhancing pharmaceuticals.
Converter Plus does the basics, including unit conversions and currency conversions.
There’s a built-in standard calculator, but that’s not where Converter Plus excels.
It converts units from over 100 different categories, including Area, Cooking, Coordinates, Energy and Work, Frequency, Gas Mileage, Length – Distance, Power, Pressure, Temperature, Velocity, Speed, Volume – Capacity, Weight – Mass, and many, many others.
The calculator handles more than simple calculations, and expands to calculate savings rates, loan and mortgage payments, fuel economy, sales tax and tips, as well as 167 currencies.
The favorites list makes it easy to reach just those functions you use the most (with all the categories, Converter Plus can seem daunting at first). This is one of the more popular converter apps on the Mac App Store and for good reason. It’s very useful. Rather inexpensive (more akin to iPhone App Store app pricing). And, straightforward to use (other than the long list of conversions).
