Remember the separate numeric keypads for the Mac? Those days are gone. Small is beautiful, and Apple loves the smaller, aluminum, Bluetooth keyboard– without a keypad.
Most Macs sold these days are MacBook models which would not have room for a numeric keypad anyway, but all Mac users have access to a trackpad. Wouldn’t it cool to have an app that could turn the MacBook’s trackpad, or the Magic Trackpad (for iMac, MacPro, and Mac mini users) into a numeric keypad?
That’s what Numeric does.
For less than a dollar, Numeric turns the trackpad into a numeric keypad using Apple’s built-in multitouch technology.
Numeric features an onscreen calculator, but the magic is matching the onscreen numeric keyboard to the trackpad for faster number entry and calculations.
Numeric features a delete button, undo and redo for each action, Scientific notation, and local number format.
The onscreen keys are mapped to the trackpad. Instead of using the mouse to press the calculator keys, press the same location on the trackpad.
Activating Numeric is done by moving the screen pointer over Numeric on the Mac’s screen. That activates the trackpad keypad. Move the screen pointer away from Numeric on the Mac’s screen, and Numeric is deactivated.
Not bad for less than a dollar, right?
