It’s quite possible that I need to get out more to see how other Mac users live their lives. It seems I’m not using my Mac in a way that’s beneficial to my lifestyle. My Mac has Notification Center, alerts, alarms, and probably more apps than the average bear, but it doesn’t have an alarm clock.
My Alarm Clock is a very inexpensive alarm clock app which functions like– you guessed it– an alarm clock.
It comes with multiple alarm support, a nightstand mode, weather information including local conditions and the current temperature. There’s also a few different clock faces so you don’t get bored with the same old look all the time.
Think of My Alarm Clock as a typical hotel room alarm clock. There’s an alarm but it can wake you to alarm sounds, or music from iTunes. There’s even a snooze option.
The clock has different displays, and options for 12 or 24 hour display, toggle the seconds or day of the week or chimes.
The sleep timer lets you go to sleep with white noise or a playlist from iTunes. And, the weather displays weather conditions, temperature, wind speed and more.
What’s not to like? My Alarm Clock is a digital alarm clock for your Mac.
The kicker is that I don’t sleep with my Mac (and I have five Macs). iPhone? Maybe. iPad? Possible. But Mac? Nope. Close the lid on a MacBook parked on the dresser or nightstand and alarm clocks don’t do much good.
As attractive as My Alarm Clock is, and it is, it just feels more like a solution looking for a problem, so I’m being a bit facetious about the title. If you need your Mac to act like an alarm clock, great. If not, move along. There’s nothing to see here.
