There are times when we Mac users need to take a break after slaving over a hot keyboard all day. Simply sitting there responding to email, working on photos or movies, browsing the web, or doing whatever Mac work we do can affect our physical and mental health.
What can help? An official break. Not one authorized by the boss or a sore bottom, but one fully sanctioned and initiated by your Mac. That’s what BreakTime does. It’s an app that helps you to take breaks during the day.
How? Set up breaks to run at specific intervals, and BreakTime will activate a notification so you get the break you deserve.
BreakTime is also smart. It knows whether you’re working on your Mac or not, and adjusts the timing of each break accordingly. For example, if you’ve been away from the Mac for awhile, BreakTime will reschedule the next break accordingly.
Setting up BreakTime couldn’t be easier.
Enter the time between breaks, length of breaks and other options in Preferences.
BreakTime’s status bar is just a click away so you can adjust breaks, reschedule breaks, or disable a break on the fly.
What I’d like to see in BreakTime to match the Magic Rescheduling is a Magic Snooze option to give you a few minutes after the break notification to wind down your work.
Still, BreakTime can be an effective way to get an officially sanctioned break from slaving over that hot keyboard (the same one that anchors you to a chair and prevents you from maintaining a healthy lifestyle).
