The digital age has permeated much of what we do. The last bastion of manual overload might be the postal service, which still carries letters and packages by hand. Paying homage to the 21st century, most of those labels and address where handled digitally. Your Mac makes the creation process easier, simpler, almost automatic with Labels & Addresses.
That Was Then
If you can remember buying labels and writing out the addresses by hand then you fully appreciate the world of point and click. My grandma still puts addresses on envelopes the analog way—by hand.
It’s been many years since bulk letter, envelope, and package users went digital, collected names and addresses, and used digital printers to spit out the results en masse.
Ever resourceful, small business also adopted the digital way. After all, who wants to pay someone an hourly wage to sit and fill out labels with addresses when a click or two can do the same thing.
Labels & Addresses
Printing labels and envelopes used to be a chore. Thanks to the printing tools built-in to your Mac, and handy utilities that extend that capability, it’s now the chore of point and click.
Labels & Addresses is the Mac answer to tedious chores involving the creation of labels and envelopes. It integrates with Address Book on your Mac, or other Mac applications with name and address date, to provide an automated label generation system.
L & A has two basic functions, each loaded with features that are both easy to figure out, easier to use.
Design and Print
It’s expensive to have a printer design and print special labels for your business. Why not just buy the white generic labels and design and print your own labels to match your business? L & A does that.
The built-in designer outputs envelopes, postcards, labels, shipping labels, file folder labels, even barcode labels. Add that to a color printer and any small business can look big and prosperous.
All the graphic tools you need are built in to L & A with basic templates to get started. Design Christmas cards, birthday cards, holiday cards, or invitations. Design labels for your office files, even create price tags and inventory numbers using a company database.
Included are additional fonts, and tens of thousands of images.
Point and Click
Mass mailing sounds so impersonal, but L & A makes it less of a chore because the time required to create all the labels is reduced to a few clicks. Labels for envelopes or packages are a click away.
Print many envelope or package labels by merging your addresses into L & A using Address Book, Entourage, Excel, FileMaker, vCards or nearly any tab-delimited database text file. Barcode printing is done automatically.
Going Postal
Not every country has the same standard for addresses, barcodes, or label sizes. L & A responds with support for hundreds of different label manufacturers, as well as custom sizes.
L & A also prints labels for USPS, POSTNET, Canada Post, and RoyalMail barcodes, as well as printing the right format for postal deliver in over 50 different countries. The whole process is enhanced with custom templates.
Home and small business gets a break with support for popular label printers. Bigger businesses can print price tags with industry standard Code 39, Code 128, ISBN, UPC, and EAN-8/13 compliance.
Sending via letters, envelopes, and packages is still an analog, manual process, but it’s expedited on your Mac via useful applications like Letters & Envelopes. Well done. Mac-like. High value. Highly recommended.
