“NoodleMac is home of the 9 Word Reviews for Mac software. Not too much, not too little.”
Because you can never have enough speed, there’s Speed Download. Great interface to Mac utility which is four utilities in one. Download manager, FTP client, file sharing utility with encryption, and a .Mac/iDisk/WebDAV connectivity utility. A lite version is also available.
Faster and more secure, more features, easier to use and sporting a new look, this latest Speed Download release sets a new standard for download manager innovation, and is designed to be your central, unified hub for almost all the downloading and file transfer activities you do online.
9WR - Speed Download: Ultimate download utility combines FTP, auto-resuming, encryption, .Mac/iDisk/WebDAV capability.
Substantial update to the little image editor that does more than expected. Affordable, fast, easy to learn, many image editing tools and options, from gradients filters to layers. Nicely done. Now with a cool brush designer, and improved performance via your Mac’s GPU.
Don’t let Acorn’s size fool you; it’s a powerful little guy. Fancy math to keep your pencil strokes from having sharp edges, squeezing as much performance out of your computer’s GPU as possible, and simple innovations to make your life easier.
9WR - Acorn: Simple image editor, layers, filters, effects, vector shapes, text.
Nicely done image editing and drawing application features non-destructive editing, multiple layers, live filters, and vector drawing tools all in the same window.
DrawIt includes a large number of ready-to-use and easily customizable special shapes; circles, stars, rounded rectangles and polygons, as well as support for an unlimited number of nested groups, masks and custom overlays. Supports over 100, stackable, nondestructive Core Image filters. Individual properties can be freely edited, regardless how many filters have been applied.
9WR - DrawIt: Bitmap editing, vector drawing tools, multiple layers, filters, masks.
Interesting tool that does what it says—counts words. Total number of words, total instances of words in a document, gives a sortable summary of words. The only drawback is the constant need to drop the words into Word Counter.
Text can be typed, pasted, or dragged into the window. Word Counter can automatically update the count based on a user-defined time interval. It can show the progress achieved towards a set goal for the total number of words and characters. It also can perform bulk counts on multiple files and folders simply by dropping them onto the window. Word Counter can count the number of times a particular word appears in a document.
9WR - Word Counter: Counts total words, instances of words, creates summary table.
Totally a one trick pony. TimeMachineEditor works only on Mac OS X Leopard and Snow Leopard to change the backup interval. Instead of one hour, change it to whatever period you want.
Change the one-hour interval of Time Machine backups. You can change the interval or decide to make daily, weekly and monthly backups.
9WR - Time Machine Editor: Editor which changes Time Machine’s default one-hour backup interval.
One of my absolute favorite Mac photo enhancing utilities. If you’re bored by iPhoto and fearful of the dreaded Photoshop learning curve, then try point and click photo effects.
Funtastic Photos is a “non-permanent and easily reversible” photo editor for macintosh computers, with over 50 simple to use 1-Click Styles, an Advanced Effects engine, direct sharing via e-mail, Fun Cards, Cell Phone (inc. iPhone) and popular photo sharing sites (such as flickr, Facebook, Picasa & MobileMe). Funtastic Photos features a creative print layouts system, with awe-inspring projects, including photo mosaics, greeting cards, photo cubes, mini photos books and more.
9WR - Funtastic Photos: One-click, non-destructive photo effects editor, popular online photo sharing.
Yes, you can create and manage multiple iPhoto libraries by holding the Option key and starting iPhoto, but iPhoto Library Manager is waaaay cooler. Multiple libraries, quick view, sharing, sync with iPod, copy photos between libraries, split libraries, merge libraries.
iPhoto Library Manager adds an additional level of control over your iPhoto collection by allowing you to keep your photos in multiple libraries and transfer them back and forth without losing your keywords, ratings, and all the other information you’ve worked to assign to your photos.
9WR - iPhoto Library Manager: Manage, switch, merge, copy photos, sync, share multiple libraries.
