“Certified Mac Software” means I like it. Uh huh.
Free instant messaging utility that works like Apple’s iChat but without the video and audio but with more chat formats.
Connect to any number of messaging accounts on any combination of supported messaging services and then chat with other people using those services.
9WR - Adium: Instant message using AOL, Jabber, MSN, Yahoo, MySpace, GoogleTalk.
Live dangerously with the latest Flock social web browser for Mac, Windows, Linux. Think of it as a cross between Camino and Firefox which married Internet Explorer. Lots of bells and whistles like Firefox, not as pretty or elegant as Camino, and more features than you ever need. If you like many buttons on your browser, and you collect browsers, you’ll like Flock; now based on Firefox 3.5.x.
Flock is an amazing new web browser that makes it easier to share media and connect to other people online. Share photos, automatically stay up-to-date with new content from your favorite sites, and search the Web with the most advanced Search Toolbar available today.
9WR - Flock: Firefox-like browser, attractive, easy to use, with Firefox extensions.
Ultimate simplicity and focus in a writing word processor. A very handy and free application for writers who want to write, not learn to use a word processor.
Bean is lean, fast, and uncluttered. If you get depressed at the thought of firing up MS Word or OpenOffice, try Bean. If you use Text Edit but have to jump through hoops just to get a word count or change the margins, try Bean.
9WR - Bean: Simple writer’s word processor—word count, inspector panel, auto-save.
This update of the formerly free Taco HTML Edit adds plenty of new features, including live preview, code completion, code coloring for CSS and Javascript, plus tabs, and FTP editing. Is bait and switch alive and well for Mac users? The new version $24.95 vs. the previous version, $0.00. Decent editor, poor implementation of CSS, arguably more important these days than HTML.
While you are editing an HTML, CSS, or PHP document Taco HTML Edit can now suggest completions for the text you are typing… now supports coloring for CSS and JavaScript documents. Coloring is completely configurable… now supports a tabbed user interface for both projects and standalone documents… can now be used an an external editor for FTP clients… Live Preview is now embedded into the document window.
9WR - Taco HTML Edit: HTML, PHP, CSS, Javascript editor; tabs, live preview, auto-completion.
One of my all time favorite, and highly used, web development tools. xScope measures, aligns, inspects graphics and layouts on your Mac’s screen. If you design or develop on a Mac, this is a must-have tool.
A powerful set of tools that are ideal for measuring, aligning and inspecting on-screen graphics and layouts… available via the Mac OS X menu bar, xScope’s flexible tools float above desktop windows and UI elements making measuring a breeze… really seven tools in one that will help any designer do their job faster and produce more accurate results.
9WR - xScope: Seven tools; ruler, screen, loupe, guides, frames, crosshair, dimensions.
Geeky Mac utility that converts movies to a bunch of formats not handled by Apple’s QuickTime. It ain’t pretty but it works.
Converts movie files to an MPEG2/MPEG1 DVD/SVCD/VCD ready movie format, and exports MPEG1/MPEG2/VRO/VOB/TiVo/Hitachi VOB to QuickTime.
9WR - MPEG2 Works 4: Clever utility for movie conversion nerds, MPEG2 to/from whatever.
Perhaps the fastest FTP utility on the Mac. Intuitive, two panel browser interface, utilizes Quick Look, compares before sync. Nearly as easy to use as Transmit, notably faster to upload, download files.
Yummy FTP is an FTP, FTP SSL/TLS, and SFTP client, very fast, very flexible and completely reliable file transfer utility for Mac OS X, wrapped up in a gorgeous and highly intuitive user interface, sporting Finder-like FTP browsers, toolbars and drag and drop simplicity throughout. Yum!
9WR - Yummy FTP: Very fast FTP utility with dual-window browser, sync, bookmarks,
