About NoodleMac
This is a web site about Certified Mac Software. We review only Mac software that we like, that we think others will like, that we use ourselves.
We can honestly certify that we like and use the software we review on NoodleMac.
Mac Software Updates
Kate and I like to keep up with Mac software updates. The problem is that there are many software titles for Mac users today. How do you know which ones are good, safe to try, Mac-like in design and function, and worthy of your time, effort, and perhaps money?
Two popular Mac sites, MacUpdate, and VersionTracker, provide daily updates of Mac software; sometimes dozens of updates each day. Can Mac users be expected to try out every update or every new software title published?
That’s a difficult task, often tedious, time consuming, and complex for the average Mac user. Neither of the popular update sites reviews the software they list. Some user reviews are of dubious quality.
Reviews and Opinions
Through the years, Kate and I have installed, tested, used, and reviewed hundreds of Mac software titles for OS X, much of it for Mac360. We know what we like. We know what’s good.
What NoodleMac gives to Mac users is a resource for the best of Mac software, complete with links to the latest updates, reviews, how-to, and experienced commentary.
Check NoodleMac for what’s new. Check NoodleMac for why it’s worth your time, effort, and money.
Money & Mouth
We put our money where our mouth is (mouths are?). We buy Mac software to test and use. Both of us have Macs with over two hundred applications and utilities which we use regularly.
That experience pays off. Our Mac software reviews are detailed enough so that you know why its good, how its good, and what the software can do for you.
Where applicable, you get images of the software in use; menu by menu, feature by feature. Most software reviews will have a Comments section for you to respond with your own experience or perspective.
9 Word Reviews
Some software updates will have a detailed review, other updates, especially on software already reviewed, will have a simple 9 Word Review.
Other reviews may exceed 900 words; whatever it takes to provide readers with sufficient detail to gain a good understanding of the software’s features and benefits.
Collaboration
Not all Mac software is created equal. Kate and I may not agree on the specific benefits of some software features or use. If so, we’ll say so. Don’t expect us to agree all the time.
Often, maybe. Just not always.
NoodleMac is a new Mac site, so we don’t have complete reviews on all the software we put on our Certified Mac Software list. Once we have a sufficient number of reviews on hand, we’ll create an archives list and a category list, to make it easier to find select software titles.
As always, we look forward to your involvement. Don’t hesitate to drop us a note about the site, about the reviews, and, especially, about Mac software you use, which we haven’t reviewed yet, that you think is worthy of certification.
Designer Pixels
Kate designed the NoodleMac site, which is based on her own site, PixoBebo. We wanted a unique design, yet one that is easy to navigate, easy on the eyes, content rich, but with enough features to be worth your time.
NoodleMac is also a dynamic site; it’s a continual work in progress. We plan to add software guides, an archive (gotta have enough reviews to have an archive), and a search page (gotta have something to search).
As always, NoodleMac is designed to look great in Apple’s Safari web browser, but should look fine in Firefox, Flock and Camino for Mac users, and Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer 7.x for Windows users.
Got Software?
If you notice that we haven’t reviewed or listed the latest update to your favorite Mac software, let us know. We’ll put it on our list.
