How to get geeky on your Mac with Hazel
Tuesday, May 6, 2008
Our Macs keep us organized, keep us connected, and don’t ask much in return. Every Mac could use a little Hazel running around inside, keeping your Mac tidy and organized. That’s what a personal digital housekeeper for your Mac can do. Keep house.

Yes, Hazel is a great find, but not easy to master. Once you use it for a few tasks you can always find more ways to have Hazel manage more, but it takes getting used to. I love it and recommend it but it takes real thinking about tasks, and order, and sequence.

There’s a learning curve to Hazel. This isn’t a simple utility to empty trash and various OS X cache files. Hazel requires some thought about what you want it to do, and then a little work to get it to function right. Not for the faint of heart, but geeks will and do love Hazel.
Once you get Hazel working on a few tasks it is easy to add more, so it becomes indispensable. It just takes awhile to get the hang of Hazel.
